Abraham Lincoln Museum at Springfield, Illinois

On Saturday, December 12th the PNG group at Beardstown took a field trip to the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum in Springfield, IL. Students learned about our most famous president, Abraham Lincoln. For majority of our students it was their first time going to the meseum. We had fun and it was a great experience for them as well. We had a discussion about slavery and this great president after the trip.

Beardstown Fall Fun Festival Parade 2009

This annual event turn out great. Every year the PNG group participates in the annual Beardstown Fall Fun Festival Parade to accmoplish to goals. One, to advertise our program to the community and secondly, to have a day of fun and our first event as a group. Our students this year were very excited to walk and as usual throw out candy at the audience. Even though it was rainning out students refuse to cancel and decided to walk, we were very soaked at the end of the parade, but it was fun.

MARK TWAIN CAVES

We went to Mark Twains Cave in Hannibal,Missouri on Feb. 28,2009. It was a fun trip and back. When we got there we looked through the gift shop and looked for the tour guide named Ben (nice guy) then we watched a short video on the cave. Then he showed us a map of the cave and where we would go. Ben told us about people coming in the cave and stealing quartz witch they thought were diamonds. He showed us the interesting rocks and rock formations. He also showed us the cave mascot(a blind cave frog). The hole way through the cave he told us the Tom Sawyer & Becky Thatcher. He showed us Jesse James hideout and Mcdowell’s Cavern who performed autopsies on dead people. He also showed us several landmarks such as the Devil’s Slide, Indian Joe’s canoe, the Pointing Finger, the Crocodile and Headache Rock. We ate at Hardees (they didn’t give us enough fries!!) and then we came home and talked about our wonderful experience.
